Shawn McGinniss has been shooting since 2002, beginning with his undergraduate studies in photography and psychology at Pace University. His work at Pace has been featured in LEGEND Yearbook (2006), the Fine Arts Department Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition (2006), and twice in APHROS, an art and literary magazine (2005, 2006). He also shot the covers of two Pace University Performing Arts playbills: Marat/Sade (2006) and Diary of Anne Frank (2007).
style
Shawn shoots weddings and events using a mostly photojournalistic style with elements of contemporary portraiture. He strives to document the beautiful details and special moments commonly lost in the fast-moving action of the day's events. His critical eye for detail and use of creative photographic techniques allow him to capture a wedding and present it as an artful, visual story.
On his personal time, Shawn enjoys shooting landscapes and post-industrial cityscapes, emotive portraiture, street photography ("found scenes"), and conceptual imagery. He shoots in film and digital, depending on the project and desired results, but always enjoys spending time in a traditional darkroom.

Shawn also shoots for small businesses and occassionally assists commercial photographers with shoots, scanning and retouching film, digital content management, and small website assignments. During the week, he works at Hunter College on a part time basis, consulting with faculty on data management and applying new technology and media to their research projects.
